Майбутній простір Коновальця — це символічне місце згадки про великого історичного діяча Євгена Коновальця, який був змушений покинути Україну і був знищений за свою суспільну та військово-політичну діяльність.
Він є основоположником української національної ідеї. Саме тому пам’ятний знак Євгену Коновальцю — це місце самоусвідомлення та самоідентифікації кожного українця, який є учасником боротьби за Незалежність, яка триває і до сьогодні.
Пам’ятний знак є місцем вшанування особистості Євгена Коновальця та символом визнання його вагомого внеску в історію та боротьбу за незалежність України. Простір який залучає глядача до роздумів про зв’язок між теперішнім і минулим формуючи історичні паралелі та підкреслюючи актуальність його державотворчих націоналістичних ідей. Це місце, в яке можна зайти та побути в оточені провідника ОУН та цінностей, які він сповідував.
The Konovalets square is a symbolic place of remembrance of the great historical figure Yevhen Konovalets, who was forced to leave Ukraine and was killed for his social and political activity.
He is the founder of the Ukrainian national idea. That is why the monument to Yevhen Konovalts is a place of self-awareness and self-identification of each Ukrainian who is a part of the fight for Independence, which continues till today.

THE SPACE FOR PEOPLE preserves all the qualities of a green square-buffer between the square and the road, and also includes a comfortable ramp as an alternative to stairs and a place for students, passers-by and residents to rest.
ТОЧКА РОЗМІЩЕННЯ СКУЛЬПТУРИ є візуальним зіткненням поглядів з двох вулиць названих в честь відомих українських націоналістів — Є. Коновальця та С. Бандери та є частиною функціонального та активного громадського простору.
THE PLACEMENT POINT OF THE SCULPTURE is a visual clash of views from two streets named after the famous Ukrainian nationalists — Y. Konovalets and S. Bandera and is a part of a functional and active public space.
Пропонуємо посилити наявний зелений буфер шляхом створення зеленої оази з можливістю пройти крізь неї, або зануритись та відпочити у прохолодній тіні дощових садків. Мета проєкту — забезпечити взаємодію користувачів із простором, але при цьому, зберегти відчуття зеленого острова.
We propose to strengthen the existing green buffer by creating a green oasis with the possibility to walk through it, or dive in and rest in the cool shade of the rain gardens.

Запропоновані рішення спираються на вже наявний простір, і мають на меті мінімальним втручанням покращити досвід перебування користувачів. Замість наявного паркану по периметру встановлюється бетонний парапет з вмонтованими дерев’яними лавками вздовж озеленення, що створює можливість для сидіння великій кількості людей, а також забезпечує захист озеленення від витоптування. Бетонні лави також передбачені на площі перед університетом. Крім цього, запроєктований великий помост в тіні дерев, що дозволяє з комфортом провести час в спекотну пору року, сховавшись у тіні. Передбачається влаштування пандуса з ухилом 5% біля сходів, для забезпечення значно коротшого доступу маломобільних груп до центрального входу на рівні з рештою відвідувачів Політехніки.
Пам’ятний знак Євгена Коновальця розміщений на підвищенні та має гарне видове розкриття як з вулиці Степана Бандери, так і з вулиці Карпінського. Крім цього, він розміщується на осі вулиці Коновальця.
The proposed solutions are based on the existing space and aim to improve the user experience with minimal intervention. Instead of the existing perimeter fence, a concrete parapet with built-in wooden benches is installed along the landscaping, which provides seating for a group of people and also protects the landscaping from being trampled. Concrete benches are also planned in the square in front of the university. In addition, a large platform in the shade of trees is designed, which allows you to enjoy your stay in the hot season, hiding in the shade. A ramp with a slope of 5% near the stairs is planned to provide much shorter access for people with disabilities, or strollers to the central entrance at the same level as the rest of the visitors of the Polytechnic.
The memorial sign of Yevhen Konovalets is placed on a hill to be viewed from both Stepana Bandera Street and Karpinsky Street. In addition, it is located on the axis of Konovalets Street.

Композиційно ландшафт поділений на такі зони:

Спирається на вже наявні дерева, що зростають більш щільно в лівій частині ділянки. Тут пропонуються щільна посадка рослин, що створили б підлісок. В цій зоні передбачені рослини, які добре розвиваються в тіні.
Дощовий сад з канавами
Враховуючи, що площа перед центральним входом покрита переважно тверді мощенням, проєктом передбачено перенаправляти воду в дощові садки. Дренажні лотки спрямовують воду в дощові канави, з яких вода потрапляє в резервуар дощового садка. Таким чином забезпечується фільтрація та поглинання надлишків води.
Луки
В цій зоні висаджуються різноманітні лукові трави. Біля пам’ятника передбачений постійний покіс трави, невеликої зони, що забезпечує можливість відпочинку студентів прямо на траві. Також передбачена перехідна зона з травами що стійкі до тіні, оскільки навколишні дерева створюють широку тінь.

RAIN GARDEN WITH streams
Given that the area in front of the central entrance is covered mostly with hard paving, the project envisages redirecting water to rain gardens. Drainage trays direct water into rain gutters, from which water enters the rain garden tank. In this way, filtration and absorption of excess water is ensured.

Meadows
A variety of meadow herbs are planted in this zone. Near the monument, there is a permanent mowing of the grass, a small area that provides the opportunity for students to rest right on the grass. There is also a transition zone with shade-tolerant grasses, as the surrounding trees create a wide shade.

Запропоновані композиції підібрані з використанням геоботанічного підходу в ландшафтному проєктуванні та наслідують склад і структуру природних фітоценозів характерної для української рослинності.
● 95% використаних видів — аборигенні, характерні для української флори рослини;
● ягідні кущі виконують біоценотичну функцію, ягодами можуть почастуватись як люди, так і птахи;
● мертва деревина слугує для підтримки біорізноманіття, оскільки становить середовище існування для близько 30% комах, які живуть в лісі;
● дощові сади урізноманітнюють мозаїку біотопів, насичують ґрунт вологою, яка живить рослини під час посушливих періодів;
● псамофітного різнотрав’я застосована на найбільш сонячних ділянках території і є витривалою на тривалі посушливі періоди.
The proposed compositions are selected using the geobotanical approach in landscape design and imitate the composition and structure of natural phytocenoses characteristic of Ukrainian vegetation.

Скульптурно-архітектурна композиція присвячена пам'яті Євгену Коновальця є гармонійною частиною архітектурного простору та ландшафтного рішення скверу “Простір Коновальця”. Простір пам'ятного знаку кубічної форми, що гармонійно вписується в навколишній простір модерної архітектури. Складається з портретного силуету Євгена Коновальця, стіни з графічним орнаментальним зображенням, яка виконана в техніці гравіювання (патинування чи чеканки) та символічного шляху (дороги), яка має важливу функцію — запросити глядача стати частиною скульптурної інсталяції.
The sculptural composition dedicated to the memory of Yevhen Konovalets is a harmonious part of the architectural space and landscape solution of the "Konovalets Space" square. The space of the monument has a cubic shape, which harmoniously fits into the surrounding of modern architecture. It consists of a portrait silhouette of Yevhen Konovalets, a wall with a graphic ornamental image, which is made in the technique of engraving (patination or embossing) and a symbolic path (road), which has an important function - to invite the viewer to become part of the sculptural installation.
Рапортна графічна композиція складається з віддзеркалених по горизонталі трикутників, що складаються в ромби та вміщених в них рівносторонніх хрестах, що є символом українського війська від часів козаччини і до сьогодні. (Символіка ЗСУ також являє собою прямий рівносторонній хрест). В часи українсько-російської війни в Україні рівносторонній хрест є символічним знаменням перемоги.
Графічний орнамент є інспірований стилістикою української друкованої графіки (журнальної та книжкової) кінця ХІХ - поч. ХХ ст. Зокрема творчістю Роберта Лісовського — творця емблеми ОУН «Тризуб з мечами». Це період активного розповсюдження самвидавних брошур, книг, журналів та листівок серед українців в еміграції і на території України які слугували способом комунікації українських патріотичних та націоналістичних рухів в підпіллі.
Також цей символічний графічний елемент стилістично перегукується з модерністичною архітектурою корпусу Політехніки. Надгробок на могилі Євгена Коновальця на цвинтарі “Кросвейк” у Роттердамі в Нідерландах також має форму такого, так званого, козацького хреста. Є традиція встановлювати козацькі хрести на похованнях загиблих за Україну та на пам’ять видатних українців.
Стилістика портретного рішення натхненна графічною листівкою 1948 року, яка була надрукована з нагоди вшанування 10-ї річниці від дня смерті.
The rapport graphic composition consists of horizontally mirrored triangles forming rhombuses and equilateral crosses embedded in them, which is a symbol of the Ukrainian army from the time of the Cossacks until today. (The symbol of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is also a straight equilateral cross). During the Ukrainian-Russian war in Ukraine, the equilateral cross is a symbolic sign of victory.
The graphic ornament is inspired by the style of Ukrainian printed graphics (magazine and book) of the late XIX - early 20th century In particular, the work of Robert Lisovsky, the creator of the emblem of the OUN "Trident with Swords". This is the period of active distribution of self-published brochures, books, magazines and leaflets among Ukrainians in emigration and on the territory of Ukraine, which served as a means of communication of underground Ukrainian patriotic and nationalist movements.
Also, this symbolic graphic element stylistically resonates with the modernist architecture of the Polytechnic building. The tombstone on the grave of Yevhen Konovalts at the "Kroswijk" cemetery in Rotterdam in the Netherlands also has the shape of such a so-called Cossack cross. There is a tradition of placing Cossack crosses at the burials of those who died for Ukraine and in memory of prominent Ukrainians.
Portrait solution style is inspired by a 1948 graphic postcard that was printed to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his death.
Основним матеріалом для пам’ятного знаку було обрано латунь, оскільки цей метал є стійким до корозії та здатен витримувати різноманітні погодні умови протягом тривалого часу без втрати якості. Також він має благородний вигляд, що додає пам'ятнику естетичної вишуканості. Саме цим ми символічно посилаємось на інтелігентне походження Євгена Коновальця та міцність його переконань протягом років.
Brass was chosen as the main material for the memorial, as it's resistant to corrosion and can withstand various weather conditions for a long time without losing quality. It also has a noble appearance, which adds aesthetic sophistication to the monument. With this, we symbolically refer to the intellectual origin of Yevhen Konovalets and the strength of his convictions over the years.
